With an emphatic win in last night's debate, Alan demonstrated that his lifetime of grassroots experience galvanizing communities and brokering consensus is what's needed to achieve real results that improve people's lives. Now, he is about to take on the other candidates in another televised forum. Tune in to hear Alan explain why, as the Globe put it, he is "Massachusetts' best chance to produce another great senator."
The support keeps coming for Alan's grassroots candidacy! We're deeply honored to annouce that Massachusetts State Representative Mel King is endorsing Alan, citing his experience empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and building citizen movements as distinguishing qualifications for Senator Kennedy’s seat.
“Alan has more than twenty years experience involving youth in changing the opportunity possibilities through service,” says Mel. “He brings integrity and respect to what he learns because he listens to a constituency of the many and not the money of the few. His record tells me that I can expect him to build on the experience of creating the Serve America program; of bringing out the best in the Senate with programs that are rooted in developing healthy individuals and communities both here and abroad.”
Our campaign is honored to announce another crucial endorsement in this primary. The Worcester Telegram and Gazette is supporting Alan!
In their words:
Mr. Khazei appears to offer something a bit different. He has a deeply genuine and expansive vision of public service that he calls “Big Citizenship,” and speaks of creating an “opportunity society.” He is a student of history who has traveled widely, has dealt with power brokers on both sides of the political aisle, and is a man who has retained the youthful energy that led him to co-found City Year.
This exciting endorsement for Alan comes on the heels endorsements by the Boston Globe, Gen. Wesley Clark and Medford native Michael Bloomberg, who is hosting a fundraiser for Alan in Boston this Friday. Show your support for Alan's campaign by signing up today!
Alan sat down yesterday with the The Patriot Ledger to discuss his comprehensive jobs stimulus plan to revive our economy. Watch the video below and be sure to read Alan's plan today.
UPDATE (8pm): The debate just ended and Alan came out on top, clearly showing why he is the ideal candidate to succeed Senator Kennedy in Washington. While the other candidates squabbled and promoted their plans for more business as usual, Alan clearly articulated his vision for our Commonwealth and our country.
Tomorrow night (Weds.), Alan will debate the other candidates again in a forum sponsored by NECN TV, Boston Globe, WGBH TV, and WBUR Radio, and moderated by NECN's R.D. Sahl. Watch or listen tomorrow night at 7pm as Alan demonstrates again why he will be the next Senator from Massachusetts.
