Alan supports commonsense gun laws and ownership for responsible citizens. He has lost friends to gun violence, and has seen first-hand the terrible pain that guns bring to our urban communities. We need to get guns off our streets, and away from our kids and teens. Alan respects responsible gun owners, like his grandfather who was a hunter. Rather than detracting from their interests, protecting our community from gun violence helps them as well. As Senator, Alan will vote to ban assault weapons, implement child locks, strengthen background checks, close the gun show loophole, and give law enforcement personnel the tools they need to track and control illegal guns.
